"Though I don’t have formal training as a veterinarian or a trainer, I’ve been involved with dogs (in the way any really active parent has been involved with the PTA and the rearing of their children) for several years. I helped to establish the first off-leash dog park in the city of Atlanta, and as a result have consulted with many trainers, veterinarians, and animal behaviorists over the years. I wrote a regular column for PETHOUSE while that publication was in existence, and have probably read 90% of the top books published on the subjects of training and animal behavior. That being said, what I write here is based on my own observations with a small set of dogs and dog owners. It should be taken as anecdotal – not science or fact."
